Jenna Jameson Unveils PETA Ad - MBFW Fall 2008

It is funny watching the Internet game especially if you have a big butt and a smile.  Urban models that post on Twitter,  Face bk,  Myspace have tons of opportunities to connect with people and make a shit load of money just on merchandise alone.  I think their is a huge market for clothing especially  women with full figures and it has been proven with clothing line success of Baby Phat and Apple bottom .  But the secret is everybody has access now to creating their own clothing lines because the start up cost are so cheap now http://www.alibaba.com or http://www.cafepress.com.  If a woman making porn getting back shots becomes a Multi- millionaire business woman.  So can an Urban model showing a little ass can do it to.

The Long Tail of HipHop

Monday, March 1st, 2010

http://www.aurorawdc.com/ci/long_tail.gif

There is a lot of places you can get music now especially on the Internet.  But sometimes it is hard for music/ record labels,  and artist to sometimes grasp ways of making money off their music.  One question the music industry always ask is how can we monetize the net.  In layman terms how can we make a shit load of money online.  My belief is that not only is money made off the front end of a record or single.  Money can be made off the back-end(long tail)  especially if your site has analytical code set up.

Here is an example artist makes a dope album gives access to fans and music luvers to remix or do whatever through their site so the  music spreads.  The spreading of the artist music can be monetized by

using  those metrics and that data to sell all types of products to fans.  Take for example touring,  with analytics you can tell exactly on your site who all over the world down loads your music.  You can take that data and know exactly where to do your touring.  I believe in the near future data collected off of these artist websites is going to be just as important as artist owning their own masters.

The fans and supporters luv the shows the artist puts on.  Artist can sell merchandise clothing or what ever else that fits the artist.  The artist has a couple of dope songs that they can licence to TV,Movies, video games or even social organizations that think it is a great anthem for their organization.

With that perspective the artist is making plenty of money, if not more.  I think the back-end is going to be the most important, because pretty soon all music is going to be free online.  Artist will have to use their music as advertising to make people aware of their brand.

The next question is  artist who are very talented really need to sign to a major record label,  and the second question that arises is who would have more power the Artist or the record label.  The answer to both questions is in the 21st century if an artist comes correct the artist has the most power and leverage.  This new digitized music business the artist has the power and he or she can invite anyone to their party if she or he chooses especially if their music is dope.

More things to think about:

  • Artist wants to loose control of their music
  • You don’t need to make up bullshit beefs or act a fool to sell music to your fans especially if you are a dope MC
  • You need make yourself accessible to your Supporters(Fans) through Myspace,Face bk, Twitter your own blog
  • Always remember to be successful in the Long tail of HipHop you must create great Music, Create Music that not only you luv to make but people want to buy into,Plus with great HipHop Music People are always eager to share with their friends,  family and colleagues
  • Remember to have patients

You may call your Peoples fans,  customers,  followers, supporters  but regardless of what you call them.  If they support you regardless by showing up for your shows.  Give them more on top of the show,  do what Jay Z does point out individuals and show appreciation for them.  Better yet give them a purple tape for free with all your hot joints on it.  That brings back nostalgia.  I was at a Raekwon show he was selling his classic album Only Built for Cuban Lynx the first one in the orginal tape format purple.  I would have given it away for free because I know the reward would come back to me twice as much.

Play it enough Times

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I have listened to Diddy’s “Angels song” quite a few times.  The first time a heard it I didn’t like it, the third or fourth time I heard it I really liked Biggies verse.  The tenth time I heard it I loved the song,  so much so I like the remix even more. Granted it is on the radio and Diddy has the paper to get that air play.  But you don’t have to have money like Diddy online to get your music played enough times.   Post your songs  on Twitter  for 7 days straight make sure you just post it once a day.And at the end each post put  Plz RT or Plz Listen you will be surprised on your results when you play it enough times.

End of the Old Rich White-man in the factory running Shit Mentality

Monday, February 15th, 2010
The factories came about because of the enslavement of Africans which in turn helped create the industrial revolution as we know it.  To keep the Industrial Revolution afloat schools had to be created to train people for the work force.
This recession has proved that working in factory like your office,  restaurant, retail and doing what you suppose to is not working.  The hoods all over the US and the world has know it for years that this system was not working.
Now that Old Rich White-man on the street begging for money knows it also.  We don’t have to wait anymore for someone else’s permission to save ourselves, we can give it to ourselves.
We have everything to build with and have something far bigger than what we already have.  Better yet if reading and doing things that are fun to you what the hell really needs to be saved?  Use what you know leverage it and as the Old Rich White-man says “Make a killing from it”.

Give it all Away

If you have a great idea for where you work or for a friend. Tell them give it to them don’t be afraid regardless of the negative things that you think up.  Like how they wont appreciate it. Remember this if your boss or friend can’t receive a gift.  Maybe you should think about firing them both.

Rent Parties

Monday, February 15th, 2010
People may or may not still do this.  But the idea is to get a group of people together to have a good time to help someone for the rent for the month. Imagine having a show where you are giving the best performance, providing inspiration or even better yet creating an emotional connection, to your fans.  Shows would be a lot more fun if the Artist used the Rent party concept a lot more.

You use to have to go to a record label to get security, distribution, and manufacturing a cd. By doing that your art was compromised. You know longer have to do that your laptop and Internet connection are your security, distribution and manufacturer.
